InactiveMy son is 6 weeks old and 11 lbs. He’s taking 7.5 mgs of prevacid once per day. According to everything I’ve read on here and marci’s kids they say 2 times that amount. My dr refuses to do this. What do I do? They say he’s at the max for his weight. Help!

InactiveSee if you can find a new doc. Check out recommendations is Laura’s groupie intro. Marci-kids is aggressive as far as dosing, but it seems to work. Problem is that doctors are dosing by different standards. You can read our questions about this to marci-kids and their answers under patient stories, Hailey’s story. We had to go from doctor to doctor to find someone who would go high enough for her to get relief. I guess the other option is to try OTC?

InactiveI am not saying you should do this, as I am not a dr. I am just telling you what I did. I upped his dose on my own and then told the GI dr- explaining what I did and how MUCH BETTER he was once I had done it. The dr wasn’t thrilled b/c she thought it was such a high dose, but she did give her blessing. He continues to do well and now the doc is fine with it. I had also mailed her all the marci-kids info before our first appt so she had a chance to see it and see why I did what I did.
Good luck to you and your LO!February 2, 2010 at 6:34 pm #65725hellbennt
