InactiveHello everyone
My LO has greenish poop lately. He has reflux and is on zantac for it which seems to be helping. He is BF but gets formula every once in awhile (alimentum). When he was first born I didnt cut anything out of my diet and his poop was the normal yellow seedy poop. After the reflux started i cut dairy, soy, eggs and peanuts to see if there was an improvement but nothing really helped but time and zantac (his poops were normal this whole time and he didnt get gassy until after i cut out foods, and continued still to this day).He has a cold right now and hopefully that is the reason he is not eating well. But his poops seem more greenish and less seedy lately (he’s 10 weeks now). I recently started adding back foods since taking them away never seemed to help anyways, and he never had the classic food allergy signs like green mucousy poops. But now they seem little green and mucousy!!!! Maybe with his cold and his crappy eating his is getting mostly foremilk??? I just dont know if I should go back to cutting out foods. Besides his poop change and crappy eating he’s the same (still gassy, but was before with all the cutting out of food too), but like I said he is sick.ERG!December 24, 2010 at 11:01 am #67423hellbennt
Keymasterhmmm. how’s his pain?
if zantac works, figure out hightest dose for weight and give that…it’s 10mgs per kilo, but don’t just take my word on it!read here:how much does he weigh? I can help you calculateDecember 24, 2010 at 1:25 pm #67426Anonymous
Inactivehis poop is yellow again but now isnt eating much, crying and pulling away. eats a bit better from a bottle when upright. we were giving him 2ml twice a day but our ped said only 1 ml. he weighs 14 lbs 14 ounces. we went back to 2 ml on our own anyways. he was sortof eating like this before we decreased but he’s worse now and lost 2 oz in 5 days.
i think he needs something else but no one will listen!!! is there anything otc to give?December 24, 2010 at 2:06 pm #67427hellbennt

Groupie Intro is FULL of info to HELP you.it’s loooong, but please read it- come back to it often-https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=853you can do this!
please go to the top of this page, click on Settings and please then click on Edit Profile, then scroll down toSignature & put:baby (name if you want or nickname), age (can put month & yr of birth), meds, doses & forms of meds, breastfed or formula fed, suspected MSPI or not, etc, thanks! zantac: figure out the proper dose and TELL doctor (do not ASK). From this link, you can learn proper dose and HOW to ASK pharmacist about it. then, you can TELL dr.don’t just take my word on this, read here:
https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=8288&PN=1mylanta cherry supreme is safe for even newborns. it should be this ‘kind,’ whether it’s the actual mylanta brand or a store brand equivalent- it should not have aluminum listed in the ingredients. there are many varieities, but there IS one kind that does not contain aluminum.the dosing for mylanta is give in 1ml increments, up to 5ml over the course of a 24hr period. if you see loose stools, back off.you can give the mylanta mixed along in with the zantac, or give it close to the zantac, but you MUST NOT give zantac or mylanta w/in 4hrs of the prevacid.MSPI ‘Main’ page: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2697

if you do decide to give a PPI (prevacid) on your own, you really SHOULD give the zantac until you get the prevacid figured out.it can take up to two weeks for you to see the full effects of the prevacid and if there isn’t any zantac, too, then it’s as if your baby isn’t on any meds at all! I learned this the HARD WAY. my baby screamed/shrieked/howled for 24hrs straight (we stopped the zantac to start the prilosec) and he LOST HIS VOICE
.as for your ped GI, I (we!) have learned that sometimes it’s better not to ask, but, rather, to TELL.Prevacid 101 (last post on the page) and read all about PPIs (prilosec, prevacid):and then TELL doctor.FAX FAX FAX the dr
stick to the FACTS (no emotions and ramblings)
state current meds, doses & symptoms
make request- flat out- short & sweet
follow up by calling office to tell them fax was sent
call again laterto discuss requests made in fax, ie:

http://www.marci-kids.com to find proper dose…& I would (and did!) get a proper dose of prevacid (prescribed, but you can also get OTC capsules)and then pay for bufferbabies… -
