HI,
My son is now 8 weeks old and weighs 12.6 pounds (he’s a big lil dude). He was previously on 15 mg of prevacid solutabs. I was giving him half in the morning and half in the evening. This worked for a few days then I started to notice that the time in between doses that he was feeling good got shorter and shorter and he was having reflux flare ups within a few hours of each dose. I met with my GI and she said to try giving him a full pill of prevacid in the morning (15mg) and then follow it up in the evening with 1.3 ml’s of Axid. Well this is the 2nd day of doing this and he is MISERABLE!!!! He is back to having difficulty drinking his bottle, crying non-stop and unable to sleep for longer than 10-15 minutes (even in my arms) without being jolted awake in pain. I plan to place a call in to the GI first thing on Monday but I know she had mentioned that the next step might possibly be Nexium. Does anyone have any experience with Nexium?
This is my second child with reflux and the prevacid/axid combo worked for my daughter and I am worried that it has not been the magic combination for my son. Looking for any comments/suggestions. Thanks!!
p.s. He is bottle fed thickened Similac Alimentum.
