My son tuned 2 months old on April 16th. I started calling the pediatrician when he was two weeks old because he will gag and start chewing like there’s something in his mouth. Then he starts crying. She said it was normal until he was 3 months old and to just hold him upright for 30 minutes after eating.
I’ve done that but he’s still gagging and crying, sometimes hours after he’s eaten. Sometimes we’ll have a good day/night with sleeping, and others (like today) he sleeps for an hour and wakes up screaming… then we repeat the cycle. He won’t sleep on his back, period. We’ve let him sleep in his car seat because it keeps him in a more upright position and we’ve elevated his bed so he doesn’t lay flat but nothing works.
Two weeks ago the pediatrician finally gave him a prescription for Zantac (after witnessing his screaming fit in her office) but once I started him on it he started spitting up more. A few days ago he started spitting up after every bottle. We stopped the Zantac and he hasn’t spit up anymore, and we’ve also switched him to Alimentum like his pedi suggested. Nothing is helping!
He’s still eating and gaining weight, just screaming all day and night. I really don’t know what to do since his pedi says that everything he’s doing is normal until he is 3 months old. Do I really have to wait that long to find out if my child is in pain? This is my first child and I am so lost! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
