I’ve been giving Baby Zegerid with CaraCream-Z for months now. We started having major problems getting her to swallow it using a syringe, so we switched to a little medicine bottle dispenser (with a nipple). For a while she would suck it down like milk…but now she has decided she doesn’t like it anymore. She purses her gums around it and refuses to suck.
Because she is getting so big, her dose keeps going up, which means I have to get her to swallow even more! I feel like it’s hopeless. She missed more than one dose yesterday because of this – and sure enough she spit up through her nose and coughed a lot last night and this morning.
I’m wondering – I have never used solu-tabs before. Can you get a PPI in that form? She’s up to 6ml per dose now – is there any other way to get her to take the meds? I’m going to try the chocolate flavored Cream stuff, but I have a feeling that won’t be much better. My pediatrician is of no help, so I am thinking about getting a pediatric GI, but wanted to ask for help from those who have been there!
Thanks,
Mary
