We were told to try Neocate for our daughter’s reflux flare up. She was on Enfamil AR previously, and no blood or anything has been found in her stool. This is just something they wanted us to try, which is fine.
Is it ok to gradually wean her on it and mix it with the AR so that she takes her formula? Otherwise she won’t eat more than an lunch or so. I read about it on the Neocate website, but I wondered what you all thought.
Thank you. What a fascinating article! Thanks. It explains it all much better.
My husband took to mixing in one ounce when we prepare bottles. Any more than that, and she drinks, gives me this look like “Mom, this is disgusting,” and then won’t eat. I just wanted to know what you all thought. Thanks! Btw, I meant to thank you for the Mylanta help the other day as well – she seems a bit happier.
Elemental formulas definitely have a distinctive taste! And since your LO is an older baby I would definitely transition her! Go slowly, like Laura suggested. Even doing only one oz of Neocate to 5 (or 7) oz of previous formula. Once she starts drinking that you can increase until you are at 100% Neocate. Does that make sense? I hope she starts feeling bettter soon!
