Hi all
Sorry if this has been discussed at length, feel free to just point me towards the relevant threads!
I have a 10 week old breastfed baby with moderate reflux. Im in australia so meds are different here. He was originally taking a compounded omeprazole suspension, but due to stability, cost and flavourings etc, I switched him to the capsules (probitor). I put half the granules in his mouth and follow with breastfeeding (30min thing just wouldnt work as he only feeds well when he just wakes up). Usually most of the granules get down, but sometimes I am so scared he is choking on them before he attaches to feed. Very concerned that some might get inhaled!
I am really reluctant to give applesauce- I know it’s not considered “solids” but it still isn’t breastmilk.
I don’t know if the granules are bigger than the ones you have in the states? They are about 1mm diameter.
Any tips? I don’t want to switch back to suspension (especially now he’s on a higher dose) but maybe that’s the only safe way?
