Hi

My baby is just over 5 months and I have started experimenting with some solids. I was clinging onto the hope that her reflux would improve slightly when she started on solids but it seems to be making her worse. This may just be a coincidence and her meds need upping but I’m not sure. I have tried banana and pear but thought perhaps they were too acidic, then tried puréed pea or just baby rice but she still seems more agitated.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

Nikki

I would wait longer on the solids. Reflux babies tend to have immature GI tracts thus solids cause them problems. Stick to simple cereals for a little while.

we didn’t start solids until into their 6 month…

baby can sit up, on the floor, unassisted, w/o toppling over

baby can reach & grab & get objects to mouth

these are some signs that baby is ready…

I agree that maybe wait a little longer? We didn’t start solids (i.e. fruits and veggies) until he was 9 months. Also, we tried grains when he was 6 or 7 months old and he couldn’t handle them…rice cereal made him miserable and infant oatmeal cereal gave him hives. There is no harm in waiting until your LO is well past 6 months.

Good luck 🙂
