Keymasterif it’s working, then just do what’s working. As for the gas, it could by the mylanta – try the other alternatives? or it could be her getting used to it.
or, just let her be gassy- sounds like she’s happy otherwise?

InactiveMy baby was having the same kind of trouble when he started Prevacid but it DID help the reflux & overall was better than before so I just dealt with the tummy trouble. I also started rice thickening & after trying different things I stopped thickening bottles & the gas magically went away. I had an apt with a new GI & he had me reduce prevacid & increase zantac. Now gas & fussiness is back so maybe I was wrong about the rice cereal causing it.
My Drs were very reluctant about trying any other PPI except prevacid.
I want to try something else. Maybe something similar to what you are doing but I have a few questions.
First when you give zegerid OTC do you still have to do the 30 min rule (I thought that is the only one you don’t have to do it with but don’t know about otc type)?
Why are you giving the Zegerid & the omeprezole (not sure of spelling), why not just two doses of Zegerid?
What do you use the Mylanta for?
What is The Tummycare Z is it the new thing for bufferbabies?
Also my pedi told me Zegerid is not for babies( this was before I knew exactly what it was)
Thank you for any responses in advance. I am trying so hard to find the right med mix for my son but it is impossible to go by what the doctors say or he would stay sick! This is making my head spin. Are you planning to tell your Dr about the otc meds your using? I don’t think mine would approve.

Keymasterit’s all about buffers. so that’s why you need extra mylanta. zegerid has buffers in it, but you don’t want 2 of the pills for your baby- that’s why you add in the extra ‘plain’ prilosec and add your own extra buffer- the mylanta- all of this makes it so you do NOT have to time around meals…

InactiveI had some extra time last night & got to read the post about how to mix this . I understand things SOOO much better now. I went & bought the products I need but had to get Tums because I couldn’t find Mylanta at all.
*In fact the sales lady(at walgreens) told me that it was like discountinued or something & it was all pulled off shelves. I couldn’t find any at Giant eagle either. Idk what’s going on there but might be important to someone
I was also wondering if you can use just Omep instead of the Zegerid because that’s what I wanted to start my LO on with Bellybuffers. I am going to try this until I get BB ordered though & I don’t want to start Zegerid & then switch again to just Prilosec. Or doesn’t it matter because that’s pretty much what Zeg is anyway is omeprezole???
Kelly great job! Mom always knows best but you should def just stick with what is working because I stopped what was finally working for my son because my new GI advised me strongly to do so. My LO went right back to being miserable again but get this I started doing everything the same way I was before & he still is not improving! I wish I never wld haVE changed anything. He does have a cold though & I heard that can make reflux worse but this is a drastic difference.
Thanks again for the advice & I hope your LO continues to do well!

Keymasterdoesn’t matter. zegerid has prilosec in it. but you can always start w/ one PPI (prilosec) and switch to another (prevacid) or vice versa…
as for the mylanta, yes it’s gone, but the store brands, like cvs brand still makes *theirs* – just look for a variety that does not have aluminum

InactiveI have gas issues with my LO too & Kira advised me to use Tummycare Max(for use with Prilosec) because it doesn’t have Calcium Carb in it which is what will cause gas. I’m unsure about all of the products but maybe the Tummycare Z is the same but for Zegerid? You’ll have to let us know how it turns out
