We just just started my 3 week old daughter on Prevacid compound after Zantac did not work-she was incredibly fussy and crying in pain. After giving the first dose she began to cry like she’s in pain and didnt want to be put down. My question is…is this common? Or an adverse reaction? I have googled and searched but didn’t find anything promising.
Most likely it’s as though your baby isn’t on any meds
She’s not on Zantac, the prevacid is probably compounded wrong & a low dose. Also, it takes up to 2 weeks to see it’s full effects IF it’s properly made & at a high enough dose.
After 3 doses and the LO screaming at the top of her lungs for over Ann hour each time, we decided too stop the Prevacid as well. At this time we are just holding her up and holding chin down during feedings, keeping her straight up for 45 minutes afterwards, propped up had of mattress and doing the soy formula. She was actually getting breastmilk too but after process of elimination we believe that was making her worse as well. When we took a break from it, she didn’t spit up as much and wasn’t as fussy and she stopped sneezing as well!
I’m not sure whether or not you read my blog earlier, but am wondering if you have ever tried probiotics and/or digestive enzymes for your little one? A supplement of both has helped my children tremendously with their digestive problems. It has not been a cure but they help more than any meds ever did.
I also took them while pregnant and nursing my last child and she was 100% different than her brothers. Hardly ever cried, basically no spit up, rarely had gas or pain.
