Hey everyone,
Tess has been doing remarkably well on her Zantac for many weeks now. We had gotten to the point where she was sleeping (in her crib!) at night for ~6 hours, then a bottle, then another ~4 hours. Life was good. Then she caught a cold. it didn’t really seem to be affecting her – no snotty nose, only some very slight congestion and a little cough. So for a couple of nights she was back to waking every 3-4 hours. OK, that’s understandable. Then BAM! We put her to sleepthe next night and she’s up at least every 2 hours, often every 30 minutes. WTF?! She’s not having any obvious cold problems when she’s waking up. I’ve sat and watched her and she wakes with a start (no startle reflex as we’ve got her swaddled) and then cries.
We saw the nurse practitioner this morning and she said Tess’ ears are clear, she’s in fine health other than a slight cough from the cold. The NP suggeted increasing her Zantac dose as that has changed in the past month or two even though Tess has gained 2+lbs. That was my guess as to the problem, too, but it happened so suddenly.
So now (finally) to my question… when these kids outgrow their dosages is it really overnight like that? Could the cold have set her off? TIA.
