Yesterday my gi doc finally approved an increase in my DD’s prevacid dosage to 15mg (7.5 twice a day — she was getting just 7.5 once a day). BUT, last night was the worst night we’ve had in like months…it doesn’t seem to be getting better but instead worse!!!! Can anyone tell me if it takes a while for the effects of the 2nd dose to show??? I need relief now…we are getting no sleep….

what form is it?

when are you giving it?

it can take a few days, maybe a week, tops…

we give the solutabs…7.5 in the am and 7.5 in the pm…

so it can take some time for the 2nd dose to kick in??

When were you giving the previous dose? Matthew had a difficult time adjusting to the solutabs. For 2 weeks or so we thought he was having terrible stomach cramps. He would not sleep and be really gassy etc. But then it all went away…. maybe that is what happened?

I know there is another mom (Sorry – cannot remember who now… maybe Kathleen?) whose baby is doing better on 15mg of prevacid than 30mg… and maybe it has to do with stomach cramps etc?

so maybe its just an adjustment thing? I was giving the 7.5mg in the evening before…plus 1.5ml of zantac in the morning. I have replaced the zantac with a second dose of 7.5 mg of prevacid.

Could it be that the second dose of prevacid hasn’t kicked in and she’s reacting to not having the zantac?

its possible for sure…i’m going to give her a larger dose of prevacid at night and a smaller dose in the am…and continue to give the zantac for a while. This is just killing me — how can things be good for so long and then ALL OF A SUDDEN it goes down hill…in like 3 days??? sigh….
