Hi everyone! I posted an introduction on the “introduce yourself” board but I thought I would ask my question here as well. Ava had started on 15mg Prevacid packets about 3 weeks ago and ever since the day she started it she began having diarrhea once a day (at first) and then it became twice a day and now it’s happening all the time…we’re switching to Zegerid tomorrow and I’m praying it won’t do the same thing but I just wanted to know if diarrhea is a widespread side effect from Prevacid? I thought that it would go away after a few days but it only got worse. Also, does
anyone’s child have diarrhea as a side effect of the Zegerid? I know it’s
listed as a possible side effect but I just didn’t know how common it was..does this mean ALL PPI’s have diarrhea as a common side effect? Thanks in advance!

ok, I’m guessing you mean loose stools? bcse if it’s diarrhea I think that’s more like you have to change a watery diaper like every 10 minutes or something?
someone chime in here w/ a definition of infant/baby diarrhea, please
anyway, yes PPIs can cause loose stools (it did for my baby) and they also can cause constipation…
it seems like with all things reflux related, you have to give every change 2 weeks…so i’d give the zegerid a good 2 wk chance
