Ok Just slap her…kidding
. Things usually hurt us when they touch a nerve in us and breastfeeding is one of those nerves for all new mums. I know I would have loved to feed and even now sometimes what people say “touches a nerve” even though intellectually I know I did my best.
I think people grieve when they are unable or have to stop doing things that they want to do…so I would expect you will go through a time of grieving if you end up not being able to continue and you will be sensitive to what others say (probably because you are saying them in your head). This is all very normal and healthy. We will all reassure you that you are wonderful (which is absolutely true) and with time it will hurt less. So…just remember you are a great mum and Ariella loves you unconditionally (its not till they become teenages that conditions are attached
). Don’t judge yourself…you have done nothing wrong. Sometimes stuff just happens.
I hope this didn’t sound condescending
