2 months to see GI

Well I got in today to see GI dr. I found a way in through a contact that knew someone. Anyway, she is doing better b/c I got pedi to increase to 30mg. She still is having problems eating though. So they tested for protein allergy and it came back negative, so he gave me something like mylanta to give her 5 minutes before she eats. He thinks she is on too high of a dosage of prevacid, but it is working?!?! He thinks that we shouldn’t have her on it but a month and I do not have a refill on prescription. I’m confused, if it is helping her symptoms, why would they take her off of it?! I do not want to go through the misery of all symptoms again and her being in pain and choking. He told me to call him in a week to give him an update and we would go from there. Should I ask for an endoscopy before I agree to take her off of the medication? I asked about a barium swallow but he said no..the next step would be endo.
