Trace finally has his 2 bottom teething sticking out. he is teething like crazy and chewing on everything. he loves his cold teething ring. how long does it generally take for the teeth to pop through completely once they are showing? i jsut want him to feel better already!
January 6, 2007 at 10:56 pm #21827AnonymousInactiveEverything I’ve read says that the discomfort of teething subsides once the tooth pops through the skin. Sarah has had two teeth for about a month and a half and they are probably only a fourth of the way up. So, visible but not “full” teeth yet. If he is still in discomfort…maybe there’s more than 2 working their way through!

January 7, 2007 at 10:04 am #21844AnonymousInactiveThey usually pop through pretty quickly once you can see them through the gums. (they did on my kids) I’d say just a day or maybe two… It might help to massage the gums a little if he’ll let you.
Hope they come through soon!
January 7, 2007 at 2:51 pm #21865AnonymousInactiveSarah’s always cut though the gums, and then came out totally within a few days. Hailey’s broke through, and then took almost 2 months for them to totally move out. I guess all kids are different.
January 7, 2007 at 8:55 pm #21891AnonymousInactiveAidan’s take forever as well, they’ll poke out, then his gums will swell over them again, like Hailey it took 2 months for the 4 he has to totally come in, and the 4 he’s working on now are just below the surface, I know Trace doesn’t do well onsolids but have you tried the whole ice cube in the baby safe teether yet?? Aidan loved that….until his father put a popsicle in there when I was out one afternoon….I was so ticked, the kid loved the ice, but obvioulsy after the popsicle ice just didn’t cut it! Also, I always have a frozen wash cloth in the freezer, they make the best teethers!
January 23, 2007 at 5:22 pm #22961AnonymousInactiveHow is Trace doing now? Justice finally has his top two teeth coming in. He has been pulling at his ears for weeks now and also rolling all over me when nursing. He seems to be really uncomfortable. Was Trace or anyone else’s baby like that.
By the way, hello to everyone. Things have not been going so well around here so I haven’t been able to get on. I hope you are all doing well.
January 23, 2007 at 7:58 pm #22970AnonymousInactiveNatalia,
For my three once they’ve broken through the skin, usually that’s the end of teething pain for those teeth. But they could be seen under the skin for literally months. My kids are probably some of the world’s longest teethers as far as how long it takes for them to cut teeth!
Shelby,
I’m sorry to hear things are still so hard.
January 24, 2007 at 10:55 am #23012AnonymousInactiveThank you Christine. Really I think I could be a little more proactive, but I am trying to wait it out just a little longer. I’m hoping it is all due to reflux and he will outgrow it just like Luke did. I should try the diet again, but that is all so confusing when teeth are coming in. Besides the fact that I really don’t want to know if he has a food intolerance. I am afraid he can’t do wheat. If he can’t have wheat I will be in for it. Wheat is in everything.
January 24, 2007 at 12:26 pm #23023AnonymousInactiveShelby,
I love the picture of the two of you.
I can understand your fears about him possibly having a food intolerance, but he’s 8 months old and you won’t be nursing forever. Personally, I’d live on air and water if I was guaranteed a full night’s sleep every night.
You know you can run but you can’t hide from your fears. If he’s allergic to wheat you’re going to find out eventually. Why not now? I know I shouldn’t be preachy because I haven’t been in your shoes, but I’d try the diet again if he’s still in pain.
January 25, 2007 at 9:25 pm #23134AnonymousInactiveJust wanted to chime in to say that a wheat allergy is a major pain in the butt. However, it’s not as difficult as I thought it would be. We’ve just gotten really good at always carrying a variety of “safe” foods with us at all times, so we never to deal with her not having something that she can eat.
January 25, 2007 at 10:32 pm #23141AnonymousInactivemy step MIL is allergic to wheat. she can eat a TON of things, i think she buys most of her food in the organic section.
January 26, 2007 at 2:32 pm #23185AnonymousInactiveThanks ladies. I hope it’s not an allergy or intolerence, but if it is I know we will be okay. It will change what we eat, but things could be so much worse. I think things are bad right now because he is teething. Funny enough my 2 yr old is getting his 2yr molars. Boy is he a grouch too. I know I will sleep again someday.
How is Trace sleeping since the change? Also, what type of Prevacid is he on?
