Well… we are now on our 5th day of Neocate and some things seem better and some are worse.I understand that it takes awhile for the bad toxins to get out and the Neocate to really work the way it should but this is very very hard.Grayson is feeding relatively well..more frequently but starting to be more peaceful. His cheeks seem even more enflamed and now he has a rash that is on his head, cheeks chest and back.He woke up Sunday morning with swollen eye lids and seems to want to rub at them all the time. When sleeping(in my arms)he frantically scrubs his face against me and then arches back and opens his eyes then his head kinda slams back only to start again. And his poops.. OMG..this is the worst smelling thing I have ever encountered.. is this normal with Neocate??? HELP he seems so miserable.

She has a horrible diaper rash now, and is very constipated, it hurts her to poop she is screaming. How long are you going to give it??? I’m reaching my breaking point. Calling the doc. tomorrow, I think 1 week is long enough. Also, i made an appt. with a ped. allergist and actually got in tomorrow. That’s a first. I will ask him about the neocate and if many babies have reactions to the corn products. It seems like she is not getting full enough on this stuff. She is waking up every 2 hours to eat. If she keeps that up i will go broke!

It does get better. I know what your going through. You have to give the neocate at least 2 weeks. I felt like her situation got worse the reflux especially- we felt as though we were going backwards. We tried her first on similac, soy (which we found out she was allergic because she had blood in her stood) and then alimentum. Finally we saw a gi and she put her on neocate and I saw a difference in 8 days. (the arching in the back is caused from the reflux) She was put on pepcid and it did help her. I refused to give her any other medication. I tried her on the pepcid and neocate and it seemed to work for her. She was very constipated in the beginning and did develop a diaper rash (USE TRIPLE PASTE) it works. sorry if i’m skipping around just trying to remember everything and help you. I never added any cereal or simply thick to the neocate. It has a watery consistency. The new improved neocate does seem a little better. Most importantly go see a specialist. One last thing. One of the mom’s my sister knows is a chiropractor. I told her everything we went through with the reflux and she said she cares for many babies with reflux and the parents see a huge improvement. We didn’t take her because she’s 7 months now and her reflux is so minimal now. I can only tell you it does get better and I know what your going through. I’ll check back the forum if you have any questions. good luck to the both of you!!!!
