InactiveMax has always had sleep issues since he was born. he was fully breastfed for 10 weeks but was never able to transfer milk well and was failure to thrive. also has layrngomalacia. We just had him allergy tested but are still waiting for the results. He spits up but not as often also vomits. most of the time he regurgitates in to his mouth.
the most he has ever slept was 4 hours (first time he is put to bed) and that is rare. most of the time it’s 2 hrs or less. At night just before bed is the only time he will eat well and go right to sleep. He will fall asleep right after or as he is eating.
During the night is when he takes in most of his calories. He has taken as much as 21oz between 8PM and 5 AM! He is up every one to 2 hours arching his back and wanting to eat. but there are times when he wakes and we aren’t able to get the bottle to him quickly enough that once he is finished eating he is wide awake wanting to play and will be up for hours.
most recently he was up from midnight to 7am not crying or anything just wide awake. once in a while he was relaxed enough that he dozed off but it was short lived and he woke right up since he was in such a light sleep.
During the day he has gone 8 hours between feedings. he never wants to eat during the day. normally he sputters some and drools more when he has a bottle. I try to sneak a feed in as he starts to fall asleep. Dr thinks he has issues with feeding resistance. he takes one good nap oh 1 1/2-2 hours and 2 other naps 30 mins and sometimes an hour. he eats maybe 3- 4 oz bottles during the day at most.
Now he is currently on Alimentum powder with 1 tbsp rice cereal per 2 oz of formula. I want to wean him off the rice since it isn’t working but he likes the thicker feeds. he still nurses but mostly for comfort. Just started him on Prevacid 7.5mg 2 times a day. he is 21 LB 8 OZ currently and from what marci-kids says he needs to be on a higher dose.
He has tried zantac, reglan and axcid in the past.
Last night in hopes of switching his night eating to day eating I tried offering him 2.5 oz when he wanted to eat rather than the normal 4oz. he took them for the most part just fine only he woke every hour to drink. so he still took in just as much as he would normally take. Odd thing about the last feed which was about 4AM he took the 2.5oz ok and wanted more by the time I got him more he was wide awake and refused to eat which does make me think he is infact resisting. when he refuses he will make a sour face if he tastes it or clench his lips shut. he’s done this with every formula he’s had
sorry this was a bit of a hodge podge.
Anyone else have a frequent night eater? how did you fix it? did night sleeping get better?

InactiveI’m sorry, I don’t have much to add, but hope things are improving, and just wanted to send hugs!
