InactiveChristine I am not trying to scare you but I really think its harder on adults than it is on kids. They gave me enough medication to put down a horse and I was still wide awake. The doctor was shocked and couldn’t believe I was still awake. I hope everything goes great for you. What are they looking for? if you don’t mind me asking. Mine was before I had my gallbladder removed.

InactiveWell, my experience with the endo was awesome – are you being sedated? I was sedated through IV and i woke up 30minutes later and could not remember even falling asleep!
Good luck!

InactiveGosh Christine, you can never seem to catch a break! Good luck. Now you’ll be able to give us the real heads up about what it’s like.

InactiveMy endo went smoothly. The last thing I remember is them getting ready to spray the Hurricane Spray, and then I was in LA LA Land. Thank goodness I dont remember getting the Hurricane Spray because that is some nasty stuff. After the procedure, which only took 10 minutes, I felt fiine. No sore throat or anything.
Good Luck

InactiveMy mom had the same problem and she had an esophageal web. All they had to do was dilate it and she was good to go. No more choking after that.
Good luck.

InactiveWhat is “hurricane spray”?
October 18, 2006 at 2:38 pm #15983Anonymous
InactiveLori – Hurricane spray is a numbing spray. Before I knew I had reflux, I would get food caught in my throat. I had to go to the ER once because it felt like it was stuck at the trachea / esophagus junction. I was wide awake and they scoped me. They used Hurricane spray to numb up the nose and down into the throat (felt like a torch). All I can say is, Thank goodness that they sedate people when they scope them. Having it done awake was one of the worst medical experineces I’ve had.
