InactiveI know others have posted here about acidophilus milk – perhaps run a search?
You can also try 2% milk – easier to digest/easier on tummy than whole milk.

Inactivemy family drinks nutrish by mayfied which has live cultures in it (acidopholus i think), regular milk hurts both my and my son’s belly’s this is gentler on it.

InactiveI agree with Karen’s idea about trying 2% milk. We were able to successfully switch to 2% milk at 18 months. Previous trials of whole milk were not successful but Hailey had opposite problems – frequent, loose stools. Our old daycare provider’s son had a similar issue with whole milk and she ended up doing 1/2 soy and 1/2 whole milk for about 6 months and then his constipation issue completely resolved.

InactiveMy son has drank Acidophilus milk since he was 18 months old. I have only found 1 store that carries 2% milk with acidophilus, most stores carry skim acidophilus milk. My son likes it and is like your son: loves yogurt and cheese, but gets rotten breath from drinking “regular” milk.
I myself, drink the acidophilus milk too. I used to get really phlemy with regular milk so I never drank it. I don’t get the phlem with the acidophilus milk, now I can eat cereal again!
I would go ahead and give it a shot. It’s worked great for my son.

InactiveAndrea,
Andrew should be on vitamins? If he is then goats milk is another option. My Andrew can not handle cow’s milk, we made the switch at about 16 months I think, we trailed back to cow’s found we had a major issue and have been on goats milk ever since. I only wish I had done it sooner, when my gut was telling me too and our old ped was telling me that was completely unheard of. New Ped Gi thinks it’s great…go figure.

Inactivewas soy milk not an option? did he react that that.
my andy could not tolerate milk. so we went from alimentum to a soy trial. it was alright. he couldn’t tolerate cheese until oh just 2 months ago. his egg challenge in the hospital went well too.
andy started out as egg free, milk free, dairy free, gluten free etc from week 3 until about 15 months when we tried gluten. gluten was fine then not until 2 yrs old did we go for egg. then he surprised us by asking for cheese. the latest is him asking for yogurt.
so it seems we are working our way thorugh it but it may still be that he will never tolerate whole milk so soy milk and soy products it is for the majority of his milk cravings. the cheese and yougurt is minimal and he is getting really good at knowing how many of this and that he tolerates
