My baby is 7 weeks old today and has been diagnosed with GERD since 5weeks. She has silent reflux, gaining weight rapidly and all of the other symptoms of AR. She started on Zantac with no improvement, now on PRevacid…still no improvement, but has only been on it a week. I requested that my doc refer me to a specialist and she did. However, they said they couldn’t get her in till Jan!!!!!!!! I really cannot wait that long. They said they are booked and she is not a priority b/c she isn’t losing weight. I know she is in so much pain and I feel so bad for her…doing what comfort measures I can, mainly just holding her and rocking her.
Well, my question is that IF the prevacid does start working, should I still keep the apt with the Ped GI?? Or is my doc going to do the same thing for her and just cost less. I told the lady who makes the apt that I cannot wait till January, she needs to be seen yesterday…so she put me on a waiting list for next week (I am hoping someone will cancel and we can get in).
Any oppinions?
