alimentum ?

Hi all- well my little Kenzie did end up having probs on the Good Start- consulted with GI and he rec. switching to Nutamingin or Alimentum- should’ve listened to you all from the get go. Based on what I’ve read the Alimentum tastes better and Kenzie has been doing beautifully on it. We’re on day 5 now. I have a friend who told me that her son got horribly constipated on Alimentum and had to go on Nutramigen. Now I”m nervous b/c she got constipated on the Enfamil AR and the Soy. I don’t want to have to switch again. I thought htey were the same formula with 1 being Enfamil and the other Similac. Has anybody had the experience of the baby getting constipated on Alimentum?

Actually, Alimentum creates loose stools in many babies. I would try
not to worry – just see what happens. Glad she’s doing better!

yup loose stools for my little guy the whole time he was on alimentum. i don’t think i ever saw the kid constipated. andy used it from week 3 until about 13 months or so. then we switched to soy and have been on it ever since

Us too – Owen was constipated BIG TIME on soy formula but once he got on alimentum he had great poops ever since. Actually, now that he’s not on as much (he’s moved on to soy milk other than one bottle) he hasn’t been pooping as well – so we found that it was really helpful in terms of his poops.

thanks to all of you. I’m sure you’re all on this emotional roller coaster as well and I am a TOTAL WRECK!!! Both the pediatrician and the GI feel that the reflux is mild and her MPI is “suspected”. Her Guiac test in the office was negative. It just kills me when she gets so uncomfortable. I’m praying the Alimentum works. When my friend shared this with me about her foster son today- that was the 1st time I’d ever heard of Alimentum NOT working for a baby who did not have any other medical concerns.
