InactiveThis is along with a PPI. She will be starting Zegarid tomorrow but is currently on prevacid and has started that back arching thing again. Especially at night. And she is wanting to constantly nurse.

InactiveTums and gaviscon too, but not sure if you can do those at 7 months. Somebody else chime in.

InactiveHow much mylanta?

Inactiveevery doc says a different dose. but i was told it was ok to give like 5 ML a day if i had too. i gave 1 ml at a time.
was her prevacid dose too low? maybe thats why it wasnt working properly. if you get a zegerid dose thats too low also then you wont see much improvement.

InactiveI wasnt able to work the prevacid into that 30 minutes to an hour before time frame required to allow it to work for her properly. And I think she was starting to outgrow the dosing again because it seemed to be working for a couple of weeks and then the last couple of days the back arching started back up.
The zegarid doesnt have to be given in a set time frame before feeding her so it will work better with our life chaos and getting me back and forth to my medical asppointments and treatments. I dont want her to suffer just because my body is falling apart.
I was curious about the mylanta because I had seen others talk about it and if will provide temporary immidiante relief for her, I just want to make her feel better.

Inactivealright i gotcha with the timing! thats why i order caracream from marci kids and mix it with prevacid. the timing thing gives me major anxiety!
did you get prescribed the 20 mg packets or the 40 mg packets? cause if you got the 40 mg packets i will gladly explain some things to you…there are some buffer issues with it that you have to adjust. ( we used to use zegerid.)

InactiveUgh…. I was wrong. He prescribed 40 MG packets and all it says is 2-3 x pd as needed with no other instructions what so ever. I have no clue what to do 🙁

InactiveI have used adult Gaviscon with Alana. My ped OKed it at about 4 months (ours doesn’t have Aluminum). But its not a true antacid…it puts a film over the stomach contents so it is less likely to reflux. I have decided I actually prefer it to mylanta. Maybe it is the solution for non-acid reflux…at least for some bubs. We also get infant gaviscon, you can put it in formula or a little water and it thickens the stomach contents as well as creating the film.
