InactiveUgh! as if I did not have enough going on this week but I just found ants all in my pantry. I’m about to search on line but does anyone know a non toxic remedy to get rid of them??? TIA.

InactiveI feel your pain! I hate sugar ants and that is something I am so ready to get away from living in FL. Not sure of a non-toxic remedy. We had people come out 2x yearly and on demand if we had problems in between and when ants got out of control this last summer I called them out NUMEROUS times. I keep all meds in ziploc bags and all snacks/cereal in tupperaware too. I hate ants.

InactiveI had ants this summer once and could not for the life of me figure out what was up! But I used these circular traps that you can get at W-mart the ant goes in and takes it back to the colony and it kills them. Whatever’s on the inside a kid couldn’t get to, but I don’t know about toxicity??? I put one on the floor behind our freezer in the garage and one in a window sill (sp) and shut the window and they were gone within 1-2 days.

InactiveI know of two things that are supposed to get rid of ants, but I’ve never tried them myself.
1. Grits. You sprinkle dry grits where you see the ants. Supposedly they will take the pieces of grits home and eat them, then it swells up inside of them and kills them.
2. Another thing I heard works really well is cinnamon. You watch to see where the ants are coming in, then sprinkle a line of cinnamon across the entrance, and they will not cross it. Of course, I don’t know how well it will work for the ones already in your pantry.
Hope that helps!

Inactivethanks, I sucked them up with the vacum (probably not the smartest thing) but they are back full force. I went and got the ant traps just worried about using them around food. I may try the grits/cinnamon first and if that doesn’t work, I guess I can take out the food and put the traps in there. I think we are going to have to start having a service come too. The bugs seem to get worse every year.

InactiveI’ve always used the ant traps in my pantry when I’ve had problems. It hasn’t made me sick or anything. They are supposed to carry the stuff back to the colony and kill them all off. It has always worked well for us. Thankfully ( KNOCK ON WOOD!) we haven’t had a problem with ants in our new house. Good luck!

InactiveWe use the traps too, as long as you put them where Seth can’t get to them you should be fine. Good Luck, I hate ANTS.

InactiveInteresting to know about the grits, of course, we are leaving monday for MD. But MAN I’d love to watch them explode. Horrible I know. I have a sick sense of humor.
