InactiveHarrison is 7 1/2 weeks old already, things have gone by so fast, much faster than when Dagney was a baby, I can’t believe it! Anyway, he is soo gassy, i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a good bottle. Right now we’re just using the basic traditional-looking Gerber baby bottle. He also does well with the disposable Enfamil nipples from the hospital (I stockpiled a bunch and have been re-using them!) on those bottles. Dagney was gassy too, we finally used the Dr Browns bottles, and I think they helped, but i hate the idea of getting those bottles again and having to clean all those little parts every day! Eventually we switched her to the Playtex Drop-ins, but they seemed too much & too big for Harry, he couldnt seem to handle them a few weeks ago at least. Maybe when he’s a little older. Does anyone have any other suggestions? (I had tried the Mylicon drops with Dagney, but they didnt seem to work, so i wasnt really going to even bother trying those with him.)
Thanks in advance!September 14, 2009 at 2:49 pm #63883Anonymous

InactiveI just bought some born free glass bottles the other day to use with baby #2. I have heard lots of really good stuff about them esp with the whole BPA stuff. They seem to have a valve too but I don’t think it is as “difficult” to clean as the Dr browns… Am I right Lauren?

InactiveThanks, ladies, maybe I’ll try the Born Free. This little guy has such bad gas/poop problems that he just screams and struggles whenever he has gas/has to poop, and he usually wakes up around 6am following a 5:00 feeding just from gas pain, then will eventually go back to sleep for a little while. He still has the yucky Neocate poops, and I know gas is probably inevitable, but I want to do what I can to help him out.

InactiveWe used the Dr. Brown’s bottles, and while a bit inconvenient due to the many parts, they were best for Hailey. BUT, I’m also from the “bpa bottle” days, so not sure what’s out on the market now.

InactiveDr. Brown’s bottles are mostly BPA free now. I have those and they’re pain to wash. I can’t really say if they help my DD since she’s always gassy and throw up due to reflux. BUT, many friends of mine love them, except the washing issues.

InactiveWe used Born Free originally and switched to Dr. Browns. It made a huge difference for Leah with the gas. They are a pain to clean though!

InactiveWe started with Dr. Brown’s with Haden, but he was still really gassy. We tried the Playtex Drop Ins somewhat reluctantly due to the extra cost, but he did much better on them.

InactiveMy son is almost 8wks and has bad, painful gas. I use the Mylicon drops after EVERY feeding, and do use the Dr. Brown’s bottles. Also, I make sure he doesn’t get too upset before eating. I try to feed him before he starts crying so that he doesn’t suck in a bunch of air. I also burp often during feedings…as long as taking the bottle doesn’t make him cry!
I know the bottles are a bit of a pain to wash, but I’ve always figured that if they keep my baby from being uncomfortable then they’re worth the extra time. I used them with my daughter & they made a HUGE difference with her gas/fussiness!Tried Enfamil Gentlease formula? Again, worked really well for my daughter. It’s for gas/fussiness.Best of luck and congrats on your little one!Wifey611052009-10-17 02:43:53

InactiveI think Dr. Brown’s are bpa free now. They definitely worked the best for my babies, and I tried them all!
