InactiveOh boy does Hailey have a nasty one (a cold, I mean)! My husband and I are amazed at the constant flow of snot from this child’s nose despite saline, vaporub, humidifier, plug in vaprorizer (benadryl menthol), ty cold/dimetapp at night and before feeds! She just can’t breathe, it won’t stop running, she doesn’t want to eat much…. AAAHHH! I elevated her comfylift bed right up high, not that it matters, she’s not sleeping or napping for more than 30 minutes and my feet are getting tired from walking her around the house all day and night.
Any other ideas that I haven’t tried yet?

InactiveSorry to hear… Matthew just went through a cold…. thank god he is well now. It was horrible too. We did the humidifier, babyrub, hot showers (for 30min in the morning and evening), put some vaseline around nostrils (matthew;s get really dry), saline. Did not really do any drugs… he will not sleep at an angle so it was hell…
don’t really know any other stuff…. hope she gets better soon!

InactiveI’m so sorry she’s sick! I was only going to add what Thais said about
the hot showers/steam. Also, dairy can make colds/mucous worse so maybe
only Pedialyte or juice for a day? Hope she feels better soon.knb182006-5-3 16:40:30

InactiveNONE of the cold medicines help my kids except Benadryl. It really does seem to loosen some of the stuffiness, and it makes them sleepy so I think they sleep a little better with a cold if I give it to them at bedtime abd naptime.
I don’t know if you can get it in Canada but we use Mentholatum instead of Vicks. It’s not as strong smelling. It works great to soothe that redness under the nose from runny noses and constant wiping. I rub the girls up on their chests before bed and at naptime, and put it under their noses all day. I think it helps them feel a little better.
I wish I had some great pearls of wisdom, but these lousy viruses really have the best of us.

Sorry Hailey is sick. I hope it’s not aggravating her reflux too much.

InactiveGood thought about the benadryl Christine. Going to try it tonight.

InactiveSorry to hear that Hailey is so miserable. I wish I could recommend something, but it seems as though you have tried everything that I can think of. There’s nothing worse than trying to feed a baby who cant breathe.
