InactiveGood luck at your appointment. How many times of day is he vomitting? Other than when he vomits, what is his mood like in general. I would say that if his only symptom is the vomitting, and that he’s generally happy, but only seems temporarily upset when he vomits, then he might just be upset about vomitting. I know that there are happy spitters, but I personally don’t like vomitting (it is disgusting!!!) even though it doesn’t hurt me. If he’s eating well, gaining well, sleeping well, and otherwise content then I might say that he just doesn’t like to throw up. But, since you are only giving 2.5ml of prevacid compound once a day, you might want to look at the info on compounding prevacid and see if those changes make a difference. Or see if your doctor would be willing to try a higher dose and see if that makes a difference. As for the vomit smelling bad, I know that others have said that their children’s vomit never smelled bad, but I personally have never smelled vomit that didn’t reek! Hailey’s puke smells stinky and sour and nasty (like vomit, basically). The only exception to that is if it’s a “spit up” as opposed to a “vomit”, the difference to me being that spitting up will usually happen right after she eats, so it hasn’t had any time to digest. Once it’s started being digested, when it comes back up it smells like adult vomit… yucky.

InactiveI just wanted to add a little. My first son was on the Alimentium formula for a while and his spit up smelled horrible, but almost like the formula. The formula also smells awful and tastes terrible. I tasted almost everything he took to see how it tasted. I know that sounds weird. Also, if your son does have a milk intolerence gerber rice cereal also has milk in it. The ingr. don’t show it, but I found on this forum another lady that found out it was. My little Justice can’t do Gerber rice cereal. I didn’t fully understand if your little guy is in pain or not. If there is pain there the only thing that will truly work is either the right dose of meds. or if it is mspi. Cutting out all milk and Soy.
Good luck and I hope all gets better soon.

InactiveI was just wondering about the rice cereal- did you start this recently- ie is there any association in the increased spitting. Maybe his system isn’t ready for it- it is actually a food and he is very young (I know there are a lot of younger bubs who have formula thickened with rice cereal but…). Alana reacted the minute I gave her a spoonful of cereal- she was only just four months (and 5 weeks prem, so really three monts) and I don’t think her system was mature enough to digest it. Anyway just another thought to add into the mix. Its pretty bl&*^y confusing isn’t it
