InactiveOh my gosh, it is 3 am and I am awake listening to my poor baby grunting, arching and coughing/gagging in her sleep. Can something I may have eaten caused a flare up in her? We haven’t had a night like this in a month!
Also, her zantac was increased to .5ml two weeks ago at 9lbs6oz. How do I know if this is even working two weeks later? We go to the GI today to check up on her two week dairy ED. I am going to demand a PPI. I pray we find something that works, she was doing so well. Also, she seems to have dry diapers throught the night, but wets and poops first thing in the morning, is this normal?
One last question, when she is having a flare up, I hear a horible gurgling sound in her intestines when she eats, what is this?

InactiveI have no answer, only sympathy. You described my nights with Emma! When I brought her night noises up to any one, even her ped I was told that all babies are noisy! I pushed it during our one month visit and the ped we saw that day gave us zantac. The zantac doesn’t seem to be helping. We go for our two month check up in two weeks and I am prepared to push again…I am even bring video of her nighttime sounds and actions! Good luck!!! You are not alone at three am!!

InactiveYou may need to increase the Zantac or you may just need a PPI. If she is sleeping soundly at night (even grunting can be sound sleep) she may not wet her diaper until she is fully awake. Cooper usually isn’t wet when he wakes up for his nighttime feed, but after he eats he is really wet. And the gurgling I am not sure about Cooper does that sometimes, I just assume that he really has an empty stomach and that is just what his stomach does when the formula gets to it, just a guess, but not really sure about it.

InactiveSome nights she seems like she gets a sound sleep, others not – yet the noise level doesn’t change. Emma’s belly does gurgle some times, I just chalked it up to the milk going through her intestines.
As for the medicine, it seems like more moms saw results with PPI’s then with the zantac. It was hard for me to give her that though – she seems so little to be on medicine already. I am just tired of seeing her miserable and not being able to help her.

InactiveI feel the same way about the meds, but she is so miserable. I hate the coughing and gagging. SHe is now on prevacid, so I hope we see some change.
