Sarah woke up this morning breathing so heavily. She had the most awful wheeze. I was so scared for her b/c it sounded awful! I ended up taking her to daycare and went to school. I tried to get her into her new “fantastic” ped. and they didn’t have any openings!!!!! GRRRRR! They don’t have openings for sick kids? I’m a little perturbed by that still. I hope this isn’t a trend for them. I was so excited about how “great” the new office seemed.

ANYWAY, so we spent 2.5 hours after school today in the ER clinic. NO FUN! They did a chest xray of Sarah which came back fine and they sent us home with a steroid to help clear it up. Soooooooo frustrating!!! She has still been in great spirits so it’s not the worst illness she’s ever had…it just sucks that we had to spend all that time getting treated. I hope this doesn’t mean now that she’ll be “prone” to croup.

Here’s hoping to a better night tonight and day tomorrow!!!

Sorry to hear that Sarah is not feeling well! Alexis has a runny nose and post nasal drip cough and Desylm works wonders to suppress the cough. Taylor has a runny nose no cough yet! Hope it stays that way. If Sarah is still coughing/runny nose on the steriod get an appointment and have them check for RSV, Alexis had RSV when she was 17 months old, it does not cause as much problems when they are older but definitely a concern when it comes to others. They had her on breathing treatments because of wheezing and antiboitics since it lead to pneumonia. Thank goodness Sarah’s x-ray came back clear! Hope she feels better soon!

Amy, hopefully the steriods will clear it right up. It did for Claire, but she had a gravelly little voice for a week or so. We have it on tape, kinda cute actually. She also didn’t seemed too phased by the whole illness. And she hasn’t had croup since then, so hopefully Sarah won’t either!!

The steriods fixed Alana up over the three days you have them. I have never heard of having croup being more prone to croup, although there is a link with asthma for some children (what I was told by Dr). Its a wait and see proposition apparently. Hope Sarah is 100% soon.
