better after med reduction

After seeing the ped GI and having his prevacid decreased, Aidan is doing a lot better. I know the theory is that babies need more because they metabolize it faster but on the flip side, too much of a good thing is not good for some, Aidan being one. He has started eating more and is no longer constipated, she also added mylanta which has helped I guess. He is also sleeping much better at night. Guess his body just couldn’t handle that amount of prevacid!

Yeah! Glad you got to post here! I hear you on the prevacid, it caused major stomach issues like cramping when we increased the dose. Glad to hear he is sleeping, hope it continues!

I saw that you give Mylanta with each bottle. Do you give before or after the bottle. Does it help with gas? I am thinking of putting my guy on it. Prevacid and Zantac (as needed) is starting to work on the reflux pain but does not seem to do anything for the gas and the mylicon drops are use less. I had to take him off cereal because the gas was unbearable. The cereal did wonders for the spit up – but caused him so much gas pain that it was not worth it.

well, actually, aidan is back on he 30 mgs, and I switched him to lactose free formula and now no more mylanta. First off ,he hated it, and secondly, it gave him horrible somach pains. , the ped gi we saw gave us levsin (colic drops) which help with gas, (unfortunatly she was not a good listnener as aidan never HAD a gas problem)levsin works to stop stomach “spasms” which are cinnected with colic, gassiness, etc. But when I did give it(mylanta)I was told to give a few mins before the bottle although the nurse said it would work no matter what either way.
