InactiveDylan has been sleeping horribly lately so I am very sleep deprived. I am using this as my excuse for such a huge mistake!
We have always done powder formula for both boys as they were both on Neocate. We made the switch with Carter to Goodstart a week or so ago successfully. Well, I figured I would try the RTF because it is a little less work on us. So I buy these 13 ounce cans and think, gee, this is great for traveling, diaper bag, etc… It was much thicker than the powder formula and Carter was taking it like a champ since last Saturday. I was thinking how much less he has spit up, etc….. I also have been noticing how fast Carter seems to be growing lately. He is almost out of the 18 month pajamas…
Anyway…
Well, this morning the nanny shows up and I am showing her the new fomula that we are using. I was telling her how great it was, less spit up, etc. Until she says to me “Ann Marie, this is the concentrate. You need to add water!”.
No wonder Carter is getting so much chunkier so much faster and not spitting up!
He was loving it, though!!!! I hope that is the stupidest mistake I make at least until his first birthday!

InactiveOh no! LOL!!
I too like to blame my mistakes on sleep deprivation. When Hailey was 6 months old or so (I can’t really remember) I got the great idea that if her microwave bottle sterilizer worked so great on bottles, it would do equally well with toys. So I brought out a whole bunch of Sarah’s old teethers and gave them a rince, and put them for 4 minutes in the sterilizer in the microwave. A few minutes later I came downstairs to the most awful burning chemical smell. When I opened the microwave I knew the source right away… some of the teethers had melted right down, and even worse, some had BATTERIES in them!!!!
…sooo, don’t feel too bad about the concentrate mistake. I would think that’s a common one! At least you didn’t microwave batteries! (Hopefully that makes you feel better)… and hopefully he’ll do equally well on the RTF.

InactiveThanks ladies! This is like my confession forum. We spent the day with Carter at the hospital on Friday (long story, for another post) and Dylan was up at 4am for the day on Saturday and Sunday and 3:15 am today.
OMG, Lori, batteries!? That’s funny!
Could you imagine if the nanny never pointed that out? I would have had one of those 90 lb one year olds!!!

InactiveOMG….that’s almost as bad as the time Liza was teething and I went into her room in the middle of the night half asleep and put orajel into her eye! She was great sleeper (
I was really blessed) so I wasn’t used to sleep deprivation with her. I was horrified and panicked but thankfully she was fine after I flushed it out.You should give your nanny a big hug or a bonus for her observation!

InactiveLOL, Christine! I gave my nanny a day at the spa for Christmas so she is well rested and observant!
Funny about Liza! At least our children are still too young to remember. I keep thinking of all the things my boys are going to be telling the therapist when they are adults……

InactiveOh no!

At least someone noticed and pointed it out.

InactiveIf it makes you feel any better, when Mary was sent home from the hospital, we were instructed to give her highly concentrated formula (as I’m sure you can relate!). So we’d use the 13 oz concentrated cans too, and we were told to only add FOUR ounces of water, (instead of the usual THIRTEEN ounces water) to plump her up. Her doctors kept her on that for probably four months until they felt she was big enough to add more water. So you weren’t too far off — don’t feel bad! No wonder Mary grew from 2 pounds to a 28 pound child now…
