I can’t remember if there is a rule with giving berries to babies before a certain age. Is it 6 months? Also, would there be a reason berries wouldn’t be well tolerated in a reflux baby? Landen hates bananas and so far, loves applesauce. I’ve been told pears constipate, so the only other thing I’ve seen is blueberries/apples mixed by beech-nut. I cannot find organic peaches ANYWHERE they must not be in season. I don’t want to give him blueberries if they are bad for him. He eats several different veggies but I don’t want him getting bored with the 1 fruit he’s eating KWIM?
There is nothing bad about blueberries, there is nothing bad about any fruit! all fruits and veggies are packed with vitamins. The only berry you are supposed to wait on until 1 year due to allergies is strawberries. And actually pears dont constipate, apples do. When my son is constipated I give him pears or pear juice and it helps him go. sweetcheeks2007-08-25 15:19:00
Thanks! He LOVES applesauce and we are going to trial pears anyway. Then move on to blueberries/apples combo. I am not so worried about the constipation now I guess that he is on Miralax.
Thanks for your reply. It was probably strawberries I was thinking of. I remember giving it to Kaden at 6 mos (there was a strawberry banana combo fruit he ate) and someone had told me it was bad. But by then, he had eaten them for months with no problems.
Well with reflux.. apples/pears and any acid fruits will sometimes make it worse! I know pears were bad for shane for a while.. pear juice would make him throw up! Blueberries is his FAVORITE fruit.. and hasnt caused any problems.. good luck w/the blueberries!
The only thing (other than dairy & soy!) that bothers Dagney is bananas. I held off until a couple of weeks ago to try them, and it was not a good scene, kicked up her reflux right away. They bother my husband’s acid reflux too, which is why I waited so long, but it looks like I’ll just avoid giving them to her for at least a few more months & try agaiN!
