InactiveNot sure if I should have put this under sleeping, but it really isn’t a sleeping issue, it is a crib/bumper issue. Since Cooper started rolling over on Friday, he has now learned how to do it in his crib as well. Which of course scares the heck out of me…. So I bought these breathable bumpers which make me feel much better however they aren’t as thick as your traditional bumpers and I have noticed that there is some space between the bumper and the matterss. Last night, Cooper was stirring and I went to check on him for the 5th time in like 3 hrs and he was on his tummy with his arm between the mattress and the bumper….. He can’t fit in the space but his arm can… Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Should I just get over my suffocation fear and put back on his traditional bumpers or can I stuff something in the space so that he doesn’t get his arm/leg caught? I have ordered the angelcare monitor since I am terrified of SIDS now that he can roll to his belly. I know I am probably being overly paranoid, but as a first time mommy with a refluxer worry has become my other job besides being a mommy.

InactiveDoes he need bumpers? I used them with Sarah, the traditional kind, but she never moved in her crib. For Hailey, I didn’t use any bumpers. Can you push the breathable one down lower so that there’s no gap? Which ones did you buy?

the risk of sids is practically eliminated once they learn how to roll over.
i just always used regular bumpers and it never concerned me.
good luck.

InactiveCan you kind of tuck the bumper down between the mattress and the crib so it holds it down?

InactiveI got mine from onestepahead.com. They go around the crib like a traditional bumper, however they aren’t as thick and that is why there is space between the mattress and actual sides of the crib. If Cooper didn’t move all over the place in his sleep I wouldn’t be worried, I don’t think I can alter the way they are attached at all to make them work better. The ones from Babies r us look like they are probably about the same, just attach differently. Thanks for the ideas. I’ll keep troubleshooting. We go for shots on Monday so I’ll talk to our ped as well. She is great so maybe she will have some suggestions.
