I’ve not posted since going through the reflux hell with my first child (Niko) 3 years ago. With the second (Cyrus), I thought it couldn’t get any worse. Boy, was I wrong. At 2.5 months he stopped gaining weight because his nursing got worse and worse, until I could only nurse him in his sleep, and only for a few minutes, until he woke up and started wailing. At 5 months he’s been through the ringer- resp. infections, not gaining weight, hospital stay, ng tube. He’s now mostly ng tube fed on Alimentum. He doesn’t seem to have the really severe food sensitivities like my daughter, who was on neocate, but we’ve got some on standby if I start seeing the signs. The boy seems hungry all the time, but will not take a bottle. At most he’ll take an ounce or two once or twice a day. Mostly, he just rejects it.
Sadly, all of this is despite the fact the he has been on a good dose of a ppi since practically birth. First on Nexium (didn’t seem to help much), then switched to the Prevacid solutabs (made him gag and throw up the ENTIRE next feed), and now the suspention (you all know the issues with that). So here’s the strange part- our doc had him on 40mg/day of nexium a day, 30 mg solutabs, but with the suspention, she won’t go past 18mg/day- (I think she personally doesn’t like the suspention and doesn’t really want us using it, but right now it’s the best option)
Now for my question- Can someone talk me through getting this Buffer Babies stuff? I went through the Marci Kids site and saw no mention of it (of course I’m a sleep-deprived zombie these days)- How? Where?
