Can't decide on what to do

I know that this is a very personal decision, but we can’t decide on what to do with Ariella’s first birthday. First of all, it falls on a Monday. If we invite friends AND family, it’ll be too many people. We live in an apartment in NYC so bbq is out of the question for us (unless we decide to go to a park or something like that). We didn’t want to go out to a restaurant b/c most likely she’ll just end up being cranky and won’t enjoy her own birthday party. Any ideas?

Small and intimate would be nice and you could do Sunday afternoon the day before her actual birthday. The one year birthday is a VERY big deal as it was probably the hardest year of your life as well but lots of activity can be overwhelming at that age. I would do just family….

i agree with doing it on sunday.. and small is nice..

do you have other children around her age in your family or friends? we did a big one for shane at our home in CT.. and it was nice..but he had noo clue how many people were there.. so it didnt really make a difference to him. but if you do want a lot of people for you(because i understand how special it is).. maybe the park would be a nice idea??

my brother did a play/gym place.. where they invited family/friends with other kids..not too many adults… and they played there for a couple hours. i am not sure if you have a “my gym” or something of that sort in NY, but it was fun.

We did just family and I think for Colt is was a good choice. He hates places that have lots of people. Plus we were able to make it more special by giving him all the attention and not having to worry about giving attention to guest.

We took Alana to the Zoo so we could do soemthing special as a little family and then just arranged little things with other family over the next week or so.
