Natalie,
Here’s what Joel told us when we were doing the 20mg of losec. He said that 2mg/ml was the only concentration that you could make it if you are giving two doses a day. The reason is that the lowest dose it can be is 3.5ml per dose, so if you go up to 3mg/ml, then each dose wouldn’t be enough or something like that. That’s what Joel said. He said that it was so close to the cutoff amount that 2mg/ml is better, especially if they refuse part of the dose. But when we went up to the 30mg prevacid, he did tell me that we could up the concentration and make a 3mg/ml solution. But the way to do it is not the way you would think, so you can’t figure it out yourself. I assumed that you could just add more of the medication in an equal proportion. But, it’s some wierd formula where you have to remove some of the therasol and then add more capsules. So like I said, you’ll probably have to wait until you hear back from Dr. Phillips.
Can you try adding a bit of corn syrup or chocolate syrup? It might help with the taste, through truthfully, the losec in CaraCream tastes so bad that I don’t know if it will make a difference. Have you tasted it? If you do, make sure you have a chaser!
