InactiveMy 10 mth old son has MSPI (actually MFPI – multiple foods protein intolerance) and reflux. I sent an email to Marci-Kids and was shocked to get a quick reply personally from Dr. Phillips (I’m not used to helpful medical personnel these days).
Anyway, Dr. Phillips mentioned using Prevacid capsules with CaraCream EZ Mix. Does anyone know what is in CaraCream? Milk? Soy? Wheat?
My son had a terrible reaction to Prevacid SoluTabs due to the lactose in them, so I am very nervous about trying something called “cream”.
I have an appointment with a new pediatrician today and hope to get his help in managing my ds’s reflux per the guidelines from Marci-kids. My existing ped quickly dismissed my request for Zegerid since he had never heard of it and wasn’t willing to invest the time to read up about it for me. And even with the dosage of the SoluTabs, he prescribed 1/2 of a 15 mg SoluTab 2x day and Dr. Phillips said 15 mg 3x day. (Thanks for letting me vent!)

zegerid isnt a new medication, all it is is prilosec with a sodium bicarb buffer in it, which makes it immdeiate release instead of delayed release.
caracream is the original zegerid. it is sodium bicarb you mix with a PPI so you dont have to time with meals.
it has no protein of any kind-and it is caramel flavored.
also, push for the marci kids dosing, because it is very possible that your baby wont get any pain relief until they are on dr. phillips dosing recommendations.
good luck.

InactiveJust an update: I met the new ped today and he was very agreeable to using the Marci-Kids website to prescribe Zegerid for Andrew!! Of course, with the holiday this weekend, I might not be able to get the prescription filled until Tuesday — but I finally found a cooperative doctor — yeah!
And Natalia, thank you for the explanation about what Zegerid actually is. I didn’t know that Zegerid wasn’t a new medicine. That was interesting.

InactiveGood news about your new ped and the Zegerid Rx.
I hope it works as well for him as it has the other babies on this site.
Good luck!
