Inactivefor those moms who have tried or are trying cloth diapers, i have a question:
i am looking into trying cloth diapers on kendra. what do you recommend as a starter kit? it looks ike the Fuzzy bunds AIO ones are a good bet. i know i’ll need doublers, and covers, cloth wipes. what else would i need and what would you recommend?

thanks ahead

Inactivewell, i’m kind of old, so i didn’t have the option to use all the cute cloth diapers with my older kids. i used flat folds and prefolds. flat fold diapers can be folded to fit newborn on up to toddlers, so the expense is alot less. i also used plastic pants—gerber were my favorites. i also just bought cheap white washclothes to use for wipes.
i fell in love with all the cute cloth diapers you can get now and even experimented with making some with sylvia—-but we are hoping to be out of diapers soon—-at least before she turns 4!!!!!

InactiveChristine,
wow! thanks for the tips.
iam confused about how to keep them form leaking on you or the crib. i put the diaper one, then the plastic cover (i think i was looking at the bummies brand ones). do you put those doublers inside the diaper. also i if get used ones (which iam planning on) which is te best way to desinfect them? can they be boiled?
i feel like a real dummy now

thansk ahead

Inactivei used bleach on my diapers—-i think there are some purists that would be mortified by that, but i had a real fetish about wanting my diapers to be white. i THINK that bleach might be hard on elastic, so if you are using diapers with elastic, you might want to only use bleach occasionally. i really don’t know how well AIO diapers keep leaks from happening. i tried a few diaper covers in my days but they seemed to be more prone to leaks. i always thought that gerber plastic pants kept things from leaking the best.
these new, shaped cloth diapers might be alot better about avoiding leaks, though.

InactiveI tried a few AIO’s, different types, and every single one of them leaked. I never did the original cloth nappies because I was too lazy !!!!! Enironmentally unfriendly disposables at our house now.

InactiveI just bought a cloth diaper called bum genius to try on Adriana. It is supposed to be really good, you don;t need a cover. I got it from a website called polka dots and pin stripes. It has a 14 day money back guarantee. I haven;t used it though because I keep thinking about the big poopy diaper
that I won’t just be able to throw in the garbage and I chicken out. Cloth diapers also seem like they would be bulky and hot for her since it is almost summer now. But the benefits are many also!!Good luck!
