InactiveIf my son had acid reflux or swallowing problems don’t you all think he would have a problem feeding each time he fed?
He used to be fussy 5 times a day now only 2 times a day. I have him on .08 ml of Zantac which I think is a waste.
I think he may just be colicky or just his personality to fight sometimes.
Don’t know, should I have him take the swallowing test or test previcad. He’s 11 weeks old. The times when he’s fussy he swallows his milk and you can tell it hurts him and then he cries and cries and I have to give him a nap to calm him down.

InactiveMy son was did not have problems with every bottle. Somtimes he would eat fine and other times it would take over an hour to get three ounces into him.
I would give the previcid a try. You don’t want him to suffer if he does not have to. You will find a lot of great info. here. I hope he starts feeling better soon.

InactiveI was also confused by the same very thing with Myles. He fussed and cried and fought during some bottles but drank others with little to no problems. I considered the swallowing test many times but then he’d take a bottle fine and I’d throw that idea out the window.

In the end it turns out that it was only his reflux causing the problem and once he was on the right dose of Prevacid things got better.
So no, he wouldn’t necessarily struggle at every feeding. Myles didn’t for a long time, but as he got older and was not properly medicated it did get worse and at one time he was struggling at every bottle.
I’d definitely talk to your son’s doctor about a PPI medication like Prevacid or Zantac. It seems that babies quickly outgrow their Zantac dose and even after increases eventually plateau and no longer get relief. This happened to my daughter. I did not know anything about PPI drugs when she was a baby so the poor kid suffered until she finlally outgrew her reflux.
With my son I became better informed and got him on Prevacid, and more importantly the correct dose of Prevacid, and things turned around for him. Here’s a link with information about reflux and PPI meds for infants with reflux.
Good luck and glad you found us.

InactiveNeither of my twins have ever fussed while feeding. Their reflux symptoms always occurred either shortly after eating and at night. Originally, it was only when they were lying flat.
