That’s the problem…if it’s moved up she can’t tell you, and it’s hard for you to know. We all know what a sinus infection feels like; and it’s not pleasant. I usually don’t let it go more than 14 days. If Ellie was still sick I’d give her the antibiotic.
If you put a little vaseline on her face where the drool is irritating her skin it may help to protect the skin and let it heal. That’s what I always did for my drooling babies.
BTW, what does sooky mean?
March 1, 2007 at 4:49 am #26152AnonymousInactivesooky…an aussism maybe??? It means well sooky…OK let me think…like crying but not full blown crying. Normally she can play happily by herself but the last couple of weeks she kind of needs someone to be around and if I leave the room she grizzles a bit.
I got the script filled today. I will start it in the morning…just a bit worried about side effects. I asked the chemist re probiotics and she said there are none for kids under 2. I know some of you give them… but I wouldn’t know where to start in finding them here in Aus.
Thanks re the vaseline tip…I have been doing it but maybe not reapplying it frequently enough. I will try and be vigilant tommorrow
March 1, 2007 at 10:28 am #26174AnonymousInactiveI think you did the right thing. She’s had this for over two weeks now, right? And if she’s been sooky (thanks now I understand what that means ) she’s probably not feeling well.
As for side effects most babies will have some loose stools or diarrhea, and maybe some tummy upset. My children never had any serious reactions….just some loose stools and a few times a decreased in appetite.
Sorry, I can’t help with the probiotics question. I’m sure you can find them online, but that’s not going to help you right now since it will probably take some time to receive them in the mail.
BTW, Is your mail service free, too?
I hope Alana is feeling better soon.
March 1, 2007 at 2:42 pm #26223AnonymousInactiveThanks Chrisine. It is early in the morning and after a night of getting up to her about 6-7 times…I am definately going to start them today. Heck…even if it isn’t an infection its not going to do any harm. We did do some pasta yesterday for the second time…but I gave her at least a tbsp the second time…so it could be an upset stomach from having lots of wheat for the first time…but still I think the antibiotics are worth a try.
We have to pay for mail…not overly expensive though. 50 cents for a normal letter and then parcels by weight.
March 1, 2007 at 4:01 pm #26236AnonymousInactiveSorry to here she’s feeling so crummy! Hopefully the antibiotics help really quickly.. usually start to really work within 2-3 days, right?
As for the probiotics, if you don’t have a health food store around, you can get some at the local drugstore or the pharmacy section of a Walmart (if you have Walmart). The refrigerated ones tend to be the best.
Or, since she looks like she’s a good eater, you can also give her yogurt. We have ones for babies and ones supplemented with lots of cultures here. Just wouldn’t give too much b/c it’s still dairy.
Curious- which antibiotic did your ped prescribe?
Also, is “sooky” the australian way of saying “sulky”? LOL… too cute!
Thanks for the well wishes for Hailey. Right now she’s so clingy, that it’s driving me insane. She won’t let me go anywhere without following me, “UP MUMMY!”. She’s also started tantruming- I can’t believe it… she’s not even two, and they’re really bad! I hope it has something to do with being crabby (sooky)! and not a !!!!

LOL- yes she does look like a good eater- so do I BTW
I was thinking about yoghurt but was going to wait a little while longer…she is a bit intolerant to milk. I was going to take her of meds at 9 months and if it was going well then try milk. I will search for some probiotics.
Dr prescribed amoxcillin (or something like that sp). Nice flavour…I try everything before i give it to her.
Poor little Hailey…why can’t they want their dads when they are sick.
I wonder if “temper tantrums” should become an official developmental milestone
I’ll let you all know if the antis work!
March 2, 2007 at 11:09 am #26347AnonymousInactiveLOL Therese… I meant b/c she’s got a cookie or something in her picture (also my standards of what makes a baby a good eater are somewhat different now that Hailey’s really lowered the bar!).
I hope the antibiotics work. I also taste everything before I give it to Hailey, BTW.
March 2, 2007 at 5:42 pm #26404AnonymousInactiveLori…I think I am a bit paranoid about her “chubbiness”. Especially when I notice her “cleavage” in “v” neck tops!! She is going through a particulary “chubby” stage at the moment…she tends to do that and then one day she wakes up a little longer and it all evens out a bit
March 2, 2007 at 6:50 pm #26412AnonymousInactiveTherese,
I wouldn’t worry too much about the ‘chubbiness’. My Parker was quite a chubby baby – he had rolls everywhere, but once he started crawling & walking he lost a lot of his chub. And Alana is adorable. Definitely don’t worry.

March 2, 2007 at 9:03 pm #26432AnonymousInactiveYes, Liza was a chubby baby too. I mean really chubby!! I was afraid she’d be a rotund kid, but she’s the leanest of my three even though she was the chubbiest baby.
Cute picure, Heather! Is that Parker as a baby?
March 2, 2007 at 11:21 pm #26457AnonymousInactiveThanks guys…will I lose my rolls if I start crawling with her?
Heather…Parker’s chin looks familiar
