Cure for the hiccups!

My baby gets terrible hiccups and the doctor said that this is related to reflux. We have been using something called Baby’s Bliss Gripe Water. It does not work for Jackson’s fussy times, but it takes the hiccups away almost immediately! Since the hiccups usually just upset him, we use it every time. Otherwise, his hiccups can be so prolonged and miserable. Other gripe waters (such as Little Tummys) have NOT had the same effect. We do not use the full dosage listed on the bottle. It only takes a little bit and every single time they are gone immediately. Has anyone else tried this?

By the way, you can get the Baby’s Bliss Gripe Water at Walgreens. Other drug stores do not sell it yet.

Yes, and while it also helped my son’s hiccups, it also made his reflux worse later on. Something about it calms the acid at the time, but then causes an acid rebound later. You can read about it at http://www.marci-kids.com

I think that it was just the apple flavor that was recalled. We do not use the flavored one. Also, we have not experienced increased reflux as a result of the baby’s bliss. But, it might have a different effect on different babies. It works really well for Jackson, so it might be worth a shot for some babies.

It worked for my lo’s hiccups too. Your right about the recall, it was just the flavored one. I have never even seen that one.
