Hello. My 2nd son is 9 months old and I’m breast feeding and have been dairy free since he was about 2 months old. Since he turned about 6 months we’ve been medicine free. We’ve had 3 solid decent months (still wakes up at 4 a.m. for the day and doesn’t nap well, but that is such an improvement I feel bad complaining), and I think I’m ready to start trialing dairy.
I’d love any suggestions. I guess I start by eating it myself, instead of giving it to him directly, right? How long should I wait for a reaction? When I was eating dairy, his poo was so smelly and mucosy, I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to tell if he’s having a reaction, but you never know. He’s teething and I’m afraid I might mistake his fussiness as being from teething as opposed to the dairy — it’s so hard to tell!
Anyway, could you all tell me what you did when you trialed dairy?
He does get one bottle a day of Alimentum or breast milk (if I’ve had time to pump). I guess I could just give him regular formula in that bottle if I’m going to give him dairy directly (but I think he had a reaction to the corn in some of the formulas — could not tolerate powder Alimentum, only RTF — of course — expensive taste).
Thanks in advance.
