InactiveAmelia used to sleep from 7 pm to 4 or 5 am. She never has been a very good napper, 2 naps of only about 30 minutes each. She is now waking at 2 or 3 wide awake and propped up on her hands. She talks and coos. I can hear her in the monitor and can’t sleep. I usually go in and give her a pacifier and go back to bed. I finally cave and feed her between 4 and 5 so all of us can get some sleep.
Her naps have gotten almost non-existent. She would not nap this morning. She fell asleep on me while I was feeding her at noon. I tried to transfer her to her crib after holding her upright for 30 minutes. She woke up and will not go back to sleep. If I leave her in her crib, she will talk, cry, make noises, anything but go to sleep. I’ve left her for over 30 minutes in the past, and she will not sleep. This is very typical for her. She has bags under her eyes and she desparately needs sleep. I feel like such a failure!!! I am exhausted from this battle every day.
Can anyone help???

I know how you feel…I am always afraid to post good things bc I usually end up jinxing myself! Addy goes through spells where she will not sleep as much and then the next week, she sleeps great. It is all so confusing! This week, she decided 5:30 was her wake up time when its usually 7:30. I have no clue what changed it but it did…she is getting back to normal now but for a week, it was between 5 and 6 that she would get up. Addy wasn’t a good napper until maybe she was 8 or 9 months old. Nothing I did changed, but I think she started feeling better then and it was easier to nap. I am sorry, but I can’t remember…is she doing well with her reflux issues?

InactiveThanks, Tracy… we are having an Upper GI tomorrow morning. She started spitting up yellow bile and has been for about a week. She has been back on Prevacid for about 2 weeks now (2nd time around, see my signature for details). She is doing better, no more clearing her throat noise, but the bile concerns me. Hopefully we can figure that out tomorrow. She gags herself with her fingers sometimes, so I am also concerned that she may have some inflammation in her throat. We’ll probably get some answers on that tomorrow as well. She may just be chewing on her fingers/hands because she is teething.
I read where they can wake in order to try their latest trick. Amelia is rolling over onto her tummy now, and that may be it. Hopefully the novelty will wear off soon and we can all get some sleep again!!!

InactiveOh, I bet that is it! When Addy learned to pull up, I thought we would never get to sleep again..she couldn’t figure out how to get back down!
Hopefully sleep will come soon for you all!June 20, 2007 at 2:33 pm #37390Anonymous
