InactiveSince I’ve had Ariella, I feel as if I have no energy to do anything. I work 20-25 hours a day outside of the house. I want to start exercising to pump up my energy level but I don’t HAVE the energy to do that
What helps you ladies get through the day? Could it be hypothyrodism? I read that a lot of women get that after having a baby. May 14, 2007 at 10:48 pm #33252Anonymous
InactiveOh honey! It’s probably not something that is physically wrong with you, it’s a whole different life with child!
I didn’t start exercising with Griffin my first until he was almost 9 mo old because I lost my baby weight immediately so I didn’t have the motivation.
I was previously a runner and liked to do something cardio almost daily. Anyway, I really felt a lot better when I did start up again. Once again though, I had to get up at 5 a.m. due to my husbands work schedule if I wanted to go to the gym or run outside. That sometimes took more out of me than it was worth! Hopefully your hubby has a better schedule and you can fit something in to a more decent hour!
I really like to do something early in the morning and then it is done and over with and I feel better. If I wait until evening, I’m tired and I can find way better things to do like veg on the couch.
My diet also went downhill slightly with children especially with Owen being a lot to take care of. I simply don’t eat what I should or when I should as much because lets face it, baby comes first!

It could certainly be something physical, but I would bet that it’s just all the hard work of being a mom!
I also work only 24 hours a week, and my husband really thinks that the off time is time for me! He doesn’t understand the daily routine, because he is always at work! He doesn’t see what goes on at home on a daily basis. It’s really important to just take a hour a day for yourself and get away from baby. It’s good for you and her! Something other than work I might add!

InactiveWhen you go back for a yearly checkup, they will prob check your hemoglobin – if not, ask them to! I wonder if you need more iron. I tend to be anemic and the iron pills help me a lot. I seem to be able to notice them more when I drink OJ and eat bananas. I guess the Vit C and Potasium are helpful when trying to get your body to use iron tabs.

InactiveI’d get yourself checked out. This happened to me twice after Alana. The first time it was a UTI (but the only symptom was severe fatigue). The second was after I restarted birth control pills…I was constantly tired and constantly nauseous. Turns out my body is not quite ready to tolerate the hormones and once of them I felt OK.
That being said, being a mum and working 30 hrs a week, I sure know what if feels like to be buggered. But this tiredness is a bit different than what I described above. A good sleep and I feel much better.

InactiveI’ve yet to get the energy back!… since Sarah was born!
But I would also go and get a blood workup done. I’ve occasionally heard of thyroid hormone being off since having a baby. Do you take a multivitamin?

InactiveI would get yourself checked out, but I agree with Erica…exercise saves me. (and I also get up early to do it) On those rough nights with Brianna, if I would still get up and exercise, I had more energy than on those days I didn’t.

I was thinking the same thing, Christine! I don’t excercize nearly enough, but when I do, I feel much better, so that is probably the best advice to try to see if that works.

InactiveI was also thinking it might be worth having your iron levels checked. Either that or start taking a multivitamin with iron and see if that helps. Iron deficiency can make you really low-energy. I’ve also heard that if you’re not drinking enough water every day that you will feel more tired.
