InactiveDaniel has been on Prevacid and Pepcid since yesterday. To top things off he’s also taking an antibiotic for a little infection he somehow got in his toenail. GI mentioned we should switch to Enfamil AR from Alimentum. We tried thickening with cereal 3 times and it didn’t go well. We have previously tried soy, lactofree and reg Enfamil and ended up on Alimentum because of all the gas issues we had. To be honest i’m petrified of trying Enfamil AR since i’m so afraid of making his tummy more uncomfortable and also add gas issues to the mix. I have not made the switch just yet. Any input?? He’s been on Alimentum for a while and has had his ups an downs on it. Why mess with perfection
Any ideas?Oh he has silent reflux!September 6, 2007 at 11:41 am #42237Anonymous

InactiveI wouldn’t switch. My GI has been pushing us to switch to gentelase since July and I have made the “mommy” decision not to do it. I am not switching until at least 9 months and I’ll decide then if I will actually do it.

Inactivei would NOT switch. it’s up to you, but if he’s even doing OK on the current formula I’d stick with it…I’m finding out the hard way trying new things & changing things are only making it worse (rustyn has silent reflux too)

Inactivehey coopers mom – i tried gentle ease too – none of them have really made a difference, i mean they have all been the same / ok, except soy & alimentum – he tolerated those the least. we’ve been on regular similac, regular enfamil, gentleease, good start…..lol

InactiveIf it ain’t broke don’t fix it
I’d do what your gut is telling you. We are sticking with Alana’s formula until two…I want her to be happy and not worry about sore tummys!September 14, 2007 at 12:11 am #42636Anonymous
InactiveI was the same way, but we switched to Neocate. Best thing for him. He stopped throwing up and I have my happy baby back. Found out he was MSPI even though he didn’t have all of the common symptoms. He gained weight, but he was eating constantly because of all the throwing up.
Was able to take him off the Prevacid and just on Axid. Found out reflux is a SIDE EFFECT of MSPI. We were treating him as reflux was the problem, but it wasn’tWarning, Neocate is expensive. But it in bulk online. Ebay works great. Some insurance companies cover it. -
