InactiveThat’s actually a really good idea, Lori.
It’s fabulous stuff and it doesn’t hurt if they get some of it in their mouths. I never thought of putting it on my lips but I do use it on my dry feet. (Sorry, TMI)!

InactiveLOL! I’ve put it on my lips too, Laura. But sorry to say, I never thought of putting it on my feet!! I have used it for really bad winter excema/dry skin on my hands… it’s the only thing that didn’t burn, and healed it up nicely.s&h’s mum2007-3-1 17:38:42

InactiveOH! Thanks for the great idea! Everything I try, any lotion anyway makes him cry. I think they are all burning him. I will try the lanolin.

InactiveIt’s getting worse. Bright red and he screams when I try to put anything on it. It really looks almost like a bad diaper rash… angry red bumps that sometimes form bigger patches. He is a slobering mess and sucks his fingers too, so I know he is irritating it all the time. He has had it for several weeks now, but it has really worsened in the last few days… could the cereal (oatmeal) I started with him on Monday be making it worse? The pedi. we saw on Tuesday said he didn’t think so, but I wonder.

InactiveIs it wheat free cereal? My doctor told me that some babies with severe eczema are sensitive to both dairy and wheat. Someone recently posted a brand of oatmeal cereal that is wheat free. If you’re not using wheat free…let me know, and I’ll try to find it for you.

InactiveNo, it’s not wheat free, and I think it was Lauren (shanesmom) that posted it. She said she gets it at a health food store. I’ll have to look into that. We don’t have one near us.
His face actually looked a little better this evening. The doctor prescribed a topical cream (topiclear -or something like that). It’s non steroidal. Maybe this will work. I’ve also been using aquaphor before I nurse him. The contact and wet during the feed really seemed to irritate it. He also seemed more content today, which also meant his hands weren’t in his mouth as much. It seemed to make a difference by the end of the day.

InactiveOh, good. Maybe keeping it dry and the aquafor and topiclear will help. I actually did do a search but couldn’t find that thread…but I think you’re right it was one she bought at a health food store. It’s not Earth’s Best because I use that brand and it does say it may contain traces of wheat.
Actually if wheat was the problem you’d have to eliminate it from your diet as well.
Hopefully it’s not. For my three it was mostly dairy but they all outgrew it by 9 months or so.Good luck. I hope his rash clears up.
