face rubbing?

Hi all- My lo has started to rub her face against us and use her hands to rub her nose. she is 9 wks and just started doing this the past couple of days. She is on day 10 of prevacid solutabs so could this be a reaction to the medicine, or mean that her reflux is not controlled and maybe she is irritated? She mostly does this when she is trying to fall asleep or if she wakes up during sleep. I’ll feed her and then when she is drifting off she rubs her face on my arm furiously until she falls asleep…Or, she’ll wake up out of a dead sleep and rub at her nose like it itches…I don’t want to read into this but I thought I had read a few posts about other Lo’s doing this? is this a sign of irritation or allergy?

sounds to me like it is a soothing technique that she is doing. DD who doesn’t have reflux rubs her eyes when she is trying to put herself to sleep. She also will rub her forehead on my shoulder (side to side) like she is trying to get comfortable when she is really sleepy. I probably wouldn’t worry too much. HTH.

Thanks- I think you are right. I only notice it when she is falling asleep, so it must be that. Funny how you read everything as it’s a reflux or medicine problem when it’s just a natural baby behavior! I am actually going to have to take her off her meds anyway, as she just can’t tolerate anything. I am scared to go “med free” but we have no choice.
