InactiveDon’t listen to anyone who tells you it’s not that bad because they’re gaining weight. We were told that even while my daughter was refusing to eat and needing to be sleep fed for 8 months. These docs really make me mad! Glad to hear at least that you did get the dose increased. Hang in there.

Great news about the Prevacid increase! I hope it helps your little girl as much as it helped my son. If you notice she’s better in the am’s and pm’s but not so good in the middle of the day, you might want to try dividing her dose three ways. Myles was getting 10 mg / 3 x’s daily. He did great on it!! Also, make sure you’re giving it on an empty stomach and following it up 30 minutes later with a full meal.
It usually takes two weeks for the full effect, but with an increase it can be sooner. With Myles it was only a few days after the increase that he turned around.
Good luck and good job!!

InactiveCongrats. Just to make you feel better (or worse, I’m not sure!) my son has severe reflux and all these protein intolerances and he has always been at least in the 45th percentile for weight. It has really worked against us, including his sweet demeanor, especially with our first ped gi, (who we left due to her not listening and taking me seriously). I really think him being sweet and smiley and looking so “fat” compared to so many tiny FTT babies really hurt our case. It’s good to know that they can be so healthfully large, yet hard to hear that they can still be in terrible pain even while gaining weight. Good luck!

InactiveZoey….
I agree with what others have said… Isaac also has gained weight ok- but
was clearly miserable- kicking etc.. while eating. He finally started doing
better when his Zegerid dose was upped to 30 mg- not by ped gi doc, but
just by us. Now we have a prescription for hte increase b/c we did it
ourselves and then told the doc he was doing better. They couldn’t deny
the increase then.
He has bad days and aweful feedings! But when I look back to how it was
in the beginning, he is much better. Isaac right now, at 6 mos weighs
15.5 lbs and is on 30 mg…… so if your little one is 20 lbs… I can’t
imagine that 15 mg is enough.
hang in there….

this afternoon – I’m SO glad your Ped agreed to try the Prevacid 15 mg/twice
a day and give you a referral to a Ped GI. Hang in there and we’ll talk soon.
