InactiveI have some questions that I have been rattling around my head for ahwile!
The boys will be going into 1st grade next year and the school wants to put them in the same class. They have always been seprated. Jace is very dominat and tells Jadon what to do and Jadon lets him. So I really don’t know if it’s a great idea to put them in the same class.
What have you done and why?
Also when both of your twins are invited to a b-day party how many gifts do you give? I genrally try to giove 2 smaller ones-just wondering!

InactiveI don’t have twins but do have identical twin nephews (4) and friends with older twins.
About school, my friends told us once that their girls were always in the same class at school until middle school when they requested they be seperated. They said it was a nightmare because they were on different schedules for homework- one would be learning something one week and the other would bring it home the next week. They said it was much easier to just have them working on the same thing and thus be able to help them both at the same time. My nephews will be starting school next year and I don’t know what my brother and SIL will do. Maybe some teachers will chime in with some advice..
For the birthday presents, my nephews have always just given my son a present from the whole family which is totally fine with me. I have never really thought it weird at all. I think two smaller presents or one larger present from both of the boys is fine.

Inactivei put my girls in the same class for a number of years—i just wanted them to be together because they were twins—-but it also made things easier for ME. i could do both parent-teacher conferences at the same time, pick them up from the same room, etc. in 5th and 6th grade they decided that they wanted to be in separate classes. in junior high they had some classes together and some separate. they actually pretended to be each other in one of their classes yesterday and the teacher never figured it out—-i have tried to get them to do this for years!!LOL!!
a friend of mine had her twins in separate classes, but one of them would ask to go to the bathroom and then go and stand by the other ones door and just look in—–my friend decided that they probably needed to be together.
don’t let the school decide for you as to whether or not they are separate or together. alot of people will probably have opinions on what you should or shouldn’t do—-but i think that decision should be you and your boys’ decision.
when my girls have gone to b-day parties they have usually brought a gift bag with several small items in it and some candy.

InactiveI am just not sure what to do. Right now they are both in special ed so if they are seprated in 1st I guess one will get less help. Which to be honest is no biggie since Jace is about to opted out od SE since he is doing quite well.
It’s such a hard decision. I wanted them to be in the same preK but the school wouldn’t allow it and now they want them in the same class. There are so many pros ie- the homework being the same and the same work. UGHHH i just don’t know. I really don’t want Jadon to get pushed to the side by his more domiant brother.

InactiveIt’s totally your call, but if one of the boys is dominant, I would want them separated. I have taught twins in both situations and in my current position I have the chance to see how teachers interact with twins. With a good teacher and twins that operate as equals, I’ve seen it work really well. But I’ve also seen teachers forget to treat the twins as individuals and act as if they are one person.
Academically, I’ve seen it work both ways as well. I had one set of twins that worked well as a team. The twin with stronger academics helped the weaker one with homework, etc., without doing it for them. But, I had one set of twins where the stronger twin constantly tried to “help” by just doing it for his brother.
As others have said, you know your boys, so I would go with your gut instinct on what’s right for them.
