From zantac to prevacid

Any tips I need to know about when going from zantac to prevacid?

Most mums try and keep them on the Zantac for a couple of weeks so that the babes get some relief whilst the PPI is starting to work its magic. Good luck.

I don’t think so. Just be sure to space them at least 2 -5 hours apart.

The zantac and PPI operate differently so there is no risk. This regime was prescribed by both my pead and GP. Goodluck

We did the prevacid/pepcid combo for maybe 4 or 5 months. Now we are looking at adding another med again, (we are only on prevacid and periactin) maybe zantac, maybe a motility drug… we will determine at the feeding clinic. BUt i discussed it with teh med director and said you can do the combos, no problem but try to space them 4 hours.

BTW – did you ever post about Henry’s results from allergy testing? We are now off periactin because we are gonig tomorrow for the full set of allergy testing. Matthew is back to throwing up. It is hard to know if it is because the periactin is protectiing him against some allergies (No EE, so not necessarily severe) OR it is acting as a motility agent (it is used for this reason in some cases). Sucks not knowing but hopefully once we are at the feeding clinic, they will observe him and see what tehy think

Well, we started the prevacid. Doing 2 doses of prevacid and 2 doses of zantac. We’ll see how it goes. We’ll run out of the zantac in a short while anyway. It should help the transition.

With Lucy being EBF, it’s a challenge to administer all this med. And giving 2 shots of acidopholus.

prevacid took 12 days to really work for us, so hang in there while it’s getting going in her system. How’s the elim diet going for you? YOU ARE A CHAMP!!! Keep up the good work. I can’t believe Lucy needs reflux meds, too.

ps. if timing and such become an issue, we’ve had incredible luck with Zegerid, (if your insurance will cover it)
